Learn and manage our infrastructure and be able to report on it’s health Provide daily reports and system updates to the engineering team Work with configuration management tools like Chef Document best practices and knowledge into the engineering wiki A variety of other tasks
Requirements:
Must have 4-7 years of professional work experience Comfortable with shell scripting basic automated tooling Experience working in a UNIX environment -- basic commands to sysctl tuning. Comfortable with the following topics in a UNIX context: forking threads BSD sockets routing firewalls, understanding the different styles and the advantages thereof Basic knowledge of network and systems security Able to manage hardware provisioning, networking architecture Comfortable working with vendors both in a collaborative and a dependency context. Capable of drawing up documentation on architecture Ruby or Python or Perl application development experience is preferred Chef 10.0+ experience A provable RFC-comfortable understanding of the following protocols and services that provide them: HTTP DNS SMTP TCP and UDP Ubuntu 10.04 and 12.04 Experience Must be able to be on an on-call rotation of varying lengths and periods of time
