How to start a business which relies on the field of optimization/algorithms?

I want to start a company which heavily relies on mathematics, optimisation and algorithms. We are a team of 4 comp science students who have huge expertise in these fields. However we have no customers and no product... I just read about workflow optimization, so that could be a possible field for us. So:

How to get customers? Is it better to create a "brain build" product(product without huge market research) and then fit it to customers?

Please give me hints, share your experience on how to start this business!
