Hello,

Reltrek is a simple SAAS service used for linux server monitoring. I want to differ from competitors focusing on users who don't have deep system administration skills but want to have ability to easily check health of their servers in any moment. Therefore I try to create it as simple as possible, for affordable price, include only the most important and well known sensors like load, cpu utilisation, free memory, swap, etc., all supported with nice interactive charts.

You're up against a lot of free solutions, and you want companies to give you ROOT access to their machines. No company that takes credit cards can use your service or they will violate their PCI Compliance regulations.

Nagios is really the leader in this market as I can run it on my network and monitor my own machines, and firewall any outbound connections so it sends no data to third parties.

Assuming neither of the above are considerations, first and foremost, Spelling... Customers don't like misspelled words. It makes them think you're not real. For example, "Installation" is misspelled "Instalation". You need to proof all your pages.

#2 You use ajax, but not everywhere. When I add a server, it should be ajax and give me feedback on what's going on. Instead, it just sits there spinning.... Best thing to do here is add the server and do the validation in the background (on your servers), and notify the user that the server was able or unable to be added later.

#3 Handle errors better. I consistently got a Gateway Timeout Error (504) when things didn't work well.

That said, targeting the non-geek is a very good approach.

You need to make sure they understand the risks of using this service as it may cost them their credit-card processing. If they are a US HIPPA compliant service, then the risk Federal action by allowing you access to their network.
