#4The usage of "cloud" really annoys me. When people use that word, they mean specific server(s) on the Internet, but for me that means things like BitTorrent, where I don't have to care where my stuff is, just what my stuff is.

But saying it's a cloud it makes it easy for sales people to draw on a whiteboard.

Exactly, the cloud is really just a lonely blade server sitting in a dark room in a basement somewhere. But saying it's a cloud it makes it easy for sales people to draw on a whiteboard.

When we hear "cloud" it means servers on the net.
To your manager, it's another term for outsourcing. If I put mail and calendars in "the cloud", would I need so many sysadmins?
