For us folks living and working in the EU, we've all heard the same piece of news over and over for the last couple of years. The EU's over reliance on non-EU cloud (mainly US) providers poses an existential risk for businesses and institutions who depend on these services to operate.

Even the EU Commission just launched the EU Cloud and AI Act [2].

As a DevOps Engineer / SRE working in a company based in Brussels, I keep hearing this across the board (through colleagues and friends in other companies). But frankly, I have not seen any initiative that actually takes matters into action.

So I created movetoeu.cloud [3].

The repo contains an opinionated exercise to create a basic network + Kubernetes cluster in OVHcloud.

If you follow the instructions, it'll take you no more than 1h (OVH quirks) to go from zero to running kubectl commands against your fully EU-based infrastructure.

What do you think?
