If my car was stolen, tracking where it went is a valid use of the system to get me my car back. Not worth the loss in civil liberties because logging access and firing people for stalking people is apparently too difficult, but that is a valid use of the system.

So you're stalking the car? Still stalking. Just because it happens to be convenient for you doesn't change what it is. In point of fact, those that abuse it are also following your logic. That's the problem, and anyone with a shred of foresight, honesty, and the courage to call a spade a spade could tell you this would be the outcome from the day the idea left the crib.
About the only point on which we agree is that it absolutely isn't worth the loss of civil liberties it enabled through it's existence.
