The Penny Is Dead, but Precision Isn't

Some thoughts have been swirling in my head given the discontinuation of the penny but the extreme precision of crypto stablecoins like USDC. What does this mean for privacy and are we in a slide towards someone knowing how you spend every dollar no matter how hard you try to have private transactions?
