I see new "Show HN:"s are showing up but I can't post one. Is something wrong?

I did. When I tried I received a message that the "Show HN:"s were disabled because of (load).

What have I missed?

You should ask the mods: hn@ycombinator.com

You should not post a link with a misleading title (like this one)

new accounts are restricted because of AI slop/spam, you'll have to wait something like a week or two

Looking around I don't think the AI slop/spam is going to stop or get better on it's own. Given the trajectories here it may well get worse quickly.

How about requiring anyone who posts maintain a valid payment method and if they post "spam" it would be up to the moderators, or aaided by regular members, to leavy a fine.

Like I said, this won't stop by itself.

I do think some posts are by folks trying to get a leg up on programming. Can they be "special" in some way so others could give them help as they can?
