Quoting a chatbot in an article that is not related to a chatbot felt offputting and weird. I had to stop reading, because it somehow undermined any interest i had in the article

This will become more popular - using ai as a neutral entity. I think it has its place and works well but can be abused

It’s just a different form of outrage porn. Attractive to a kind of conservative blue-tribe member. A single argument shape applied to various targets. It’s style-transfer into a field.

No different from popular movie or TV tropes is a magazine trope.

I while back I posted a chatgpt analysis of the percentage of articles (from main stream journalism outlets) positive about technology vs negative. The answer was unambiguously negative - around 70-80% negative vs 10% positive. Generally these type of media outlets hinge on negativity and cynicism.

Optimism is seen as childish.

I dont think so. Admittedtly I live in a peculiar bubble (mix of scientists, artists and programmers) but nobody that I know personally talks about chatbots in neutral terms, let alone in favorable ones.

If we take chatgpt and the ones from the other brands as neutral entities we as a society have a lot of work and self-reflection to do.

I asked Google AI what I should think about this piece, and it told me that if a writer can't write without constantly asking Google AI things, then I should probably go read something else.
