Ask HN: How do you get traction of a free tool

#1
I made a fairly simple tool to help people get feedback on their Meta (soon to be google and tiktok) advertising campains and like anyone releasing it and showing it off in subreddits, twitter, linkedin. I had the dream that what if i wake up to it viral, but womp womp, not a single person used it, I guess it boils down to how do you advertise?

Why are you trying to push adoption? Given that it is free, you won’t make “more” money.

It is because you eventually want to charge? Or is that you’d like to see adoption for the personal satisfaction of having made a tool that thousands or millions of people find useful?

Its part of a greater service to manager and optimise ads but its jsut the first step, everyone we show it to likes it, but its like they never would have sought out that tool unless we showed it to them
