#3Been using it a couple weeks now, it's actually not too bad. Trying to get used to Unity as it's obviously not going anywhere. I'm still not a fan but it is improving.

#6Have they turned the Amazon stuff off by default or are they giving an option to do so at install time? If not, I will not be downloading this.

You can disable it after installation.
Even Windows 8 religiously asks you these questions at first boot after installation.

#8As of 0842 UTC, it's not actually released yet. The link still refers to 12.04. Ars appear to have jumped the gun a little.

How's the performace? I tried a beta of Quantal a couple weeks ago and Unity was so slow compared to vanilla Gnome that it wasn't really usable (I have a Radeon HD 3000 card, using the FOSS driver). I hope it's not that bad in the actual release.
