Cambridge dictionary has crowned parasocial as word of the year for 2025. It is defined as, "involving or relating to a connection that someone feels between themselves and a famous person they do not know, a character in a book, film, TV series, etc., or an artificial intelligence".

I like to divide these interactions into two categories. One is using them for mental health support; the second is for a full-fledged romantic relationship...

Using them for mental health support involves sharing own or others behavior with chatbot asking to analyze another person’s behavior, chatting, etc.
