Ask HN: Looking for Some Guidance

#1
Hey folks—would love some honest guidance. I’ve got ~10 years in ML/forecasting/analytics (Python, SQL, R, Java), based in my country’s finance hub, and a master’s from UC Berkeley.

I would say I am proficient on following sides: 1) Coding 7/10 2) Analytics/Modelling 8/10 3) Communication 8/10

I’m torn between doubling down on modeling/analytics, moving to backend/data SWE, jumping into Gen-AI/AI engineering, or shifting into analytics consulting. Looking for maximizing career longevity—skills that age well, solid comp, and resilience across cycles. If you were me, which path would you bet on and why?

Treating 8 as "approximately" 10 isn't that unreasonable.
