Re: Show HN: Open source API for meeting transcripts and recordings
#2The only API that had the features I needed (Recall.ai), charges $1000 / month minimum, so I decided to build my own. We're now processing thousands of hours of meetings each month and it works reliably. We also have a few features that let the bot interact with people in the meeting, in addition to recording it.

#3Recall is pretty good, but it’s clearly the number one out there and is kind of “taking advantage” of that
I’ve noticed some other APIs popping up that aren’t open source but are more affordable and reliable, like Skribby (meeting bot API) and MeetingBaaS.

#4Nice take. It’s indeed very difficult to build the entire infrastructure around this, nice that you open-sourced it Recall is pretty good, but it’s clearly the number one out there and is kind of “taking advantage” of that I’ve noticed some other APIs popping up that aren’t open source but are more affordable and reliable, like Skribby (meeting bot API) and MeetingBaaS.
I expect Recall to open up a bit more, since a much larger company (Nylas) is moving into their turf: https://www.nylas.com/products/notetaker-api/

#5Q: is it possible to have the bot speak?

#6Very impressive that you were able to pull this off. And kudos for open sourcing it. Q: is it possible to have the bot speak?
