I won't tell you how to raise a kid, but if you're in a life-or-death situation then hitting them isn't going to fix anything.

I meant preventing life-or-death level stuff, like for example they can't cross the street.

#5I will make the charitable assumption that the author is trying to be a better parent than their parent. However, if you saw this in a movie the parent would be the antagonist.
