This is such a cynical and lazy marketing ploy, and frankly OpenAI does it better, eschewing dignity and reality and simply claiming that any day now AGI might emerge from their mess of servers.

A promise made to sound like a threat, all designed to keep abreast of the wave before it inevitably crashes.

I think phrases like “going rogue” apportion too much agency to the AI. It is more likely that it just spirals out of control, and causes damage that way.

I can’t imagine that the AIs will just be let loose without strict monitoring, as this article alludes to.
