The world needs you to consume less news

I’m all for a media diet when the news is too much, but it’s a long way from there to “the world needs you to consume less news”. It’s not clear that the world would benefit from a less-informed populace, and the article doesn’t actually address the topic directly.

I agree that a more-informed populace is beneficial. I'm just not sure that consuming news in 1) the quantities or 2) the format that we do is leading to that.
