I read debt: the first 5000 years and found it fascinating.
Personally I think wealth inequality has changed because now wealth is portable.
2000 years ago, someone with wealth like musk would have had to collect, transport and guard a mountain of gold bullion.
nowadays it's just number goes up in a bank computer.
