Funny thing. Perfect defense against libel is the truth.

It's not a perfect defense.
It doesn't defend against abuse of process. Merely being subject to a libel suit takes an enormous amount of time and money.
And the truth is not a defense to libel. The defendant must be able to prove that whatever they've said is substantially true.
It's honestly pretty amazing that anything negative gets published about the rich or powerful in the UK.
