This deal is dead. Why is China going to play ball now with the new tariff regime? They've already launched retaliatory tariffs this morning.

Trump wants to tariff $800B of Chinese goods 54%, do you think Xi cares about a $50B TikTok deal by comparison, this is peanuts.

He kills domestic industries on a whim, why does he care about the US branch of a social network?

Indeed he doesn't, since ByteDance is primarily owned by non-Chinese institutions and individuals anyway.
