Geez those AI-generated images are terrible. It impugns the entire work, which might very well be interesting and reasonable, but I didn't click through to find out. Stock images would have been better.

AI images look fine, it’s always some elitists on HN complaining about X Y or Z and then ignoring the content

Sort of off-topic but in chapter 0x02 it mentions:

I’m still a PuTTY user, but many people use Windows Terminal and the openssh client that’s now available as a Windows feature package.

If I’m not using PuTTY, I usually go for Cygwin/Mintty.

Author here. Those complaining about the AI images probably also complained about Ansi art back in the day. Each image is themed to the content of the article if you paid attention. But doesn't bother me if you don't want to read. Doing this for me, and those who enjoy it. No more no less.

Yeah this is what I'd use too. Otherwise nothing wrong with PuTTY if you're emotionally attached
