Tooling support is important to me - how well supported is it? Can I create a Firecracker VM the same way I create a QEMU one using virt-manager?

afaik no firecracker support with virt-manager. There's firectl to make it a bit easier but the tooling is generally still pretty rough

It's a shame. For a lot of cases, where you are happy with virtio peripherals, it seems to be a great replacement for KVM.
