Thanks to the HN community! Everything started with this post from over 5 years ago [1] which gave Taimur and me enough conviction to quit our jobs to work on Causal full-time.

A few months later we launched an Excel sensitivity tool [2]. In 2022 we shared how we scaled our calculation engine to billions of cells [3] and a few months ago we had a successful Show HN of Causal 2.0 [4]

The product is now used by 100s of startups (many YC companies) and we're exited for the next chapter fo faster GTM with Lucanet!

Lucanet seems like the kind of financial software behemoth Causal was supposed to challenge. I can't help but feel a little disappointed.

Hi, CEO of Causal here — Lucanet has been around for ~25 years and their product is very mature, but it's also very good software. Super high NPS and metrics, really quick time-to-value, extremely happy and sticky customers, etc. The UI might not follow the latest startup trends, but don't be fooled by that :)

Congrats Causal. This is Paul Barnhurst, The FP&A Guy it was a pleasure to work with Lucanet over the last year as they searched for the right target.

There is a post about the acquisition by the founders. That is the post to comment positive things about them. Whatever things any other people wants to talk about Causal product and Lucanet acquisition of it is allowed here, following the guidelines. And not poking into difficult questions isn't in that list of rules.
