the term "open source" was a concession to business interests (closed, proprietary) from the beginning[0]. We don't need open AI; we need free AI.

The full quote is:

They do still require "the complete description of all data used for training" such that "a skilled person can build a substantially equivalent system", just not for the data itself to be under an open source license.
