Not at all true. Interesting result, being able to factor larger numbers than before, and may eventually lead to breaking AES, but definitely not deserving of the sensational news coverage it's getting.

And if it were true, there is absolutely no way the Chinese government would allow it to be published.

What do you mean "not true at all"? Because they didn't factor the 2048 bit version it means it's not true?
