#3The British Indian Ocean Territory is probably better known in the tech world for its top-level domain: .io.

#9Some countries have constitutions that forbid giving up any parts of its territory, but apparently our government can hand over sovereignty without even a vote in parliament

Absolutely nothing. The US still has a base on the island of Cuba [0], they aren’t giving up Diego Garcia.
