Ask HN: Is privacy a premium feature with cursor.ai?

#1
I want to try out cursor.ai with all of the hype but do I actually have to pay $40/month for the "business version" instead of the $20 "pro version" just to have access to paid software where my data isn't trained on/stored. This has been the one thing holding me back from diving into AI code editors.

What code do you store?

With "Privacy mode", your code is never stored anywhere other than your machine and will never be trained on. Otherwise, we may save prompts / collect telemetry data to improve Cursor.

Isn't it the case that even in the Pro plan you can tick ‘Privacy mode’ which will block the ability to teach AI on your code?

Only shows under the Business pricing header "Everything in Pro, plus [...] Enforce privacy mode [...]" on the pricing page for me

That's to force-on privacy mode for your whole team. Without it you can still enable privacy mode manually.
