Random Order of Author Names

Is the randomization done by the journal or by the autors?

Can the authors do AⓡB,C,D,EⓡF? (I one almost got an asterisk to mark that I was as last as the last one. After some reorganization I think I got the second position without marks. A,B,C,D,EⓡF -> A,E,B,C,D,F)
