Showdown: What is the Best AA Battery? The results are surprising (2019)

I found it interesting that the acid battery (PKCell Heavy Duty) had the best value, not alkaline batteries. Regardless of these results, however, I have transitioned from disposable to rechargeable batteries given the environmental impact of a one-time-use product. For less than $5 per battery, I can charge an NiMH battery thousands of times and in all likelihood (with few exceptions) never spend money on disposable batteries again.
