This article uses “billions” incredibly loosely. First of all, I wouldn’t call 1.5B “billions”. Second, 1.5B pounds is almost certainly under 1B wheels.

Fun read otherwise.

Sadly, it looks like a significant amount of the cheese in cold storage is American and Swiss [1] – they missed a fantastic opportunity to age cheddar en masse.

I got a block back in 1980-ish when they were handing it out.

It was... unexceptional. Better than Velveeta but not memorably so.

Is "Swiss cheese" the same thing as Gruyere? Cause if so, that stuff is cave-aged in Switzerland as well!
