Microschools are the startups of K12 education

I have no love of public school system in the US.

In high income areas, the public schools aggressively raise a lot of funds and then spend it all on technology — there are zero textbooks, not even online ones. Without being racist, the data shows they have very high standardized test scores thanks to the local demographics, not their teaching methods. They also spend way too much time on tests and “test prep” , so the students only have to learn the exact things that are on test, not what was taught. With multiple tests per week, “teaching” time is only a fraction of the instructional hours.

That said, for profit education scares me even more. It feels like the only goal is to grab vouchers.

A nonprofit not run by religious lunatics could have some promise. (Not a fake nonprofit whose goal is to feed revenue to a for-profit).
