Brain Wants a Linear Story

Most pop neuropsychology articles (like this one) speak in terms of averages, which is an extremely unhelpful way to speak about behavior or mental conditions. Great, we know the average response. The edge cases are supposed to what though, disappear? But that does seem to be the standard societal refrain to diversity (neurological or otherwise).
