A bunch of different workstreams here.

The idea of trying to create a reference architecture that can then be used by providers is pretty compelling to me, especially if indeed based around open source & hopefully leveraging existing open source offerings.

It's a compelling vision. But it also is a bit of a risk. There's so many pieces that need to integrate well with each other, and any weak link or anything that's not well maintained/updated over time can become a problem. Still, I think the effort is worth embarking upon.

Not that I disapprove the initiative, but what happened the last time, you know, with GAI-X?

It works like a charm every time. Tons of public money spent on white elephants that earn companies a tidy profit. Here for instance I suspect that the likes of OVH, Hetzner, etc. have their sales guys in Brussels with shiny slide decks.
