Ask HN: Know someone who's unhappy from caring too much on moral dilemmas?

I know someone in my family who is mostly unhappy with how his life is going. He's been listening and reading to a lot of self-help material. But I think it's to do with his processing of moral dilemmas, and it's probably holding back his career potential. He could find a better paying job than he's doing right now that he can tolerate, not love, and then go home and do genuine projects for himself. Yet there doesn't seem to be a lot that he likes, and what he likes and finds more morally "pure" tends to be very hard to move up due to it being HIGHGLY dependent on luck.
