For personal stuff, the biggest expense it's time. Everything else--in the early days--can probably be founded with a handful of dollars a month. That would be hosting expenses and a domain name. And hosting can probably be tackled without payment too.

If you have to spend more than that I would question if you are trying to do too much too soon.

Completely agree. If you can’t afford ~$6.50/month for hosting and a domain name and want VC funding instead, please seriously reconsider your priorities.

When my first site started making $0.21/day I was in positive profit territory with no investors to be beholden to.
