It isn't just for surveillance, but it is the apparently most intuitive application of some less friendly businesses.

Several AI companies have just been noticed lobbying the EU for chat control, a pervasive surveillance law that was suggested by a few naive officials and several companies that want to sell their AI text analysis.

These business relations habe become public knowledge but of course the officials deny the relevance.
