Ask HN: I'm a senior ABAP (SAP) developer. How do I switch to a Python role?

I have a lot of experience with ABAP. But I'd like to switch to Python. I learnt Python long before learning ABAP and have a lot of personal projects using it, but zero professional experience.

I'd like to get hired remotely for an US or Switzerland company.

How should I proceed? Should I contribute to FLOSS projects for example or it doesn't matter?
