#2I understand the sentiment behind setting up your own domain and email services, I do run my own. But it's really not practical for a majority of non-technical people. The argument is always that "that email address could go away", meanwhile I still have valid Yahoo and AOL email accounts that have been receiving mail for almost 30 years. If you pick a major provider, odds are your account isn't going anywhere.
