The combination of huge demand and economies of scale will eventually mean affordability.

Think about it like this. The cheapest car today is better than the most expensive car from 40 years ago in almost every single way (barring a few exceptions)
Technology that can affect a huge number of people tend to become more available and more accessible over time. It is the niche things that tend to not evolve or to not become cheaper
