Vigilante Justice is inevitable when society breaks down. And it’s broken down in SF.

I'm having trouble parsing who you think is the wronged party here, but to be clear this fire official was going around bear spraying random innocuous homeless people before one of his victims fought back and beat him up.

Despicable

Just bear-spraying the sidewalk

I think we should also reflect that the only evidence so far is a video of someone wearing a mask and I've yet to see any other public evidence that it's actually this same guy -

> Joe Alioto Veronese, an attorney who is close to Carmignani, said he viewed an image provided by a neighborhood group of a suspect in the earlier attacks on homeless people. He said the person was not Carmignani.

> “It doesn’t look anything like Don,” Alioto Veronese said. “It’s a whole different guy.”

Yeah, well doesn't seem that way to anyone else.

Guess this is what it's become. At what point to do they cordon off San Francisco as a zone of abandonment and urban warfare now? Seems on par with South Central LA of the 80's, only that had less shit involved, literally and figuratively, just bullets.

I'm waiting for dramatization, Escape from San Francisco, starring a de-aged Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken. Maybe Elon Musk can airlift him out with spacex/tesla from Fremont.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine had a couple of episodes set in San Francisco of the twenty first century that's looking more and more of an accurate prediction. It even had a wall to keep the impoverished away from the rest of society, so who knows how much more predictive it will end up being.

Not true. The article mentions that all 8 incidents took place in the same vicinity and the public defender asserts that it's the same kind of bear spray Carmignani had when when he encountered Doty.

> “It doesn’t look anything like Don,” Alioto Veronese said. “It’s a whole different guy.”

The baseball cap and mask make identification uncertain, but it could certainly be him. That the police inspector preëmptively included the information in the case file suggests they already suspected him.

Not sure that bear-spraying people sleeping on the street counts as justice, vigilante or not. I have an expansive view of self-defense but the behavior depicted in the video doesn't make the cut. I kinda doubt all these incidents were bad guys taking a nap, given that the victims made police reports. It's not unreasonable to guess that there were some more incidents that went unrecorded.
