What's wrong with violent fiction? Writers can't protect every reader's feelings

What's wrong with Unherd writers? Anecdotes about annoying people at q&A panels and friend-of-a-friend agents don't signal the end of literary freedom. I can't understand the mentality of writing murder fiction and then demanding that your fan mail be 'good vibes only pls'.
