#5They are effective for building muscle memory when learning new exercises, and they are also incredibly beneficial for general muscle building.
Most major muscle groups operate in either push or pull, when it comes to weight training.
By focusing on the negative/inverse movement you activate more of the secondary stabilisation muscles.

#6If you have to use both arms for the lifting phase, then only use one for the lowering phase, you may cut the time in half, but you're also cutting in half how many halves of your body you can exercise simultaneously. Is there a net benefit somewhere?
