#2I agree the signal to noise ratio in the information space is pretty low, but I think that the problem is abundance of low quality information rather than censorship. It has always been the case that true material information is kept under wraps.

According to Overton, the window frames the range of policies that a politician can recommend without appearing too extreme to gain or keep public office given the climate of public opinion at that time.
