Why Ubuntu 22.04 is so fast (and how to make it faster)

I gave Ubuntu 22.04 a try in my Dell Vostro 5402 and I like it so far. I had to use it instead of 20.04 because the driver for nvidia did not work well (the bottom of the laptop was so hot). I also installed tlp to improve battery life (it worked!).

One of the things that I could not fix yet is the touchpad. I do not use gestures (eg touchegg). I use one finger for moving the cursor and two fingers for scrolling. That's it. However, sometimes the touchpad gets somewhat blocked after scrolling: After normally scrolling using two fingers, sometimes the touchpad does not register my movements correctly, and let me scroll using one finger only. It is like one of the two fingers is not properly released, so the touchpad interprets it as a scroll gesture.

A second issue is the modal dialogs used for snap apps. They just do not work in i3wm. If you try to save a file in Firefox or Chromium, the "Save as" dialog does not register the keystrokes correctly. Instead of displaying the filename in the input box as you type, it shows the autocompletion pane, like you were trying to find a filename in the current directory. Very annoying. It was reported, but there is no fix yet [1].

Besides these little issues, I think this version of Ubuntu is really stable. I miss apt repositories rather than snap apps, though.
