#2I agree with the sentiment.
Long ago I formulated a rule for myself: "if you can't think of three qualitatively different ways to solve the problem, you don't understand it. Dig deeper."
Forcing myself past two kinds of solution often led to having five or more to choose from, and to a much better understanding of what the real issues and tradeoffs were.
