Raspberry Pi as wireless access point

A while back, I got a raspberry pi CM4 and carrier board with the thought that I would make it into a wireless AP for my house. I was expecting to find a lot of similar projects or some community around rolling one's own modern, reasonably performant wireless router, but to my surprise I've really not found much.

The guide that the author links seems fine, but it seems to me as though random SBCs should really blow off-the-shelf wireless routers out of the water.
