It's difficult not to come up with a glib dismissal, but can we have employer-independent healthcare, especially in a time of two pandemics?

Am I being too harsh if I point out that this product exists solely to profit on the misfortune of others? It just doesn't seem like that would help - "Hey, you got laid off, but they paid some of the money they don't have to hire a consultant to 'craft the right message' for ya."
