In some sense I’m surprised it was even this hard/took this long (writeup spans 5 months, with many applications). Shouldn’t someone with a successful Berkeley PhD be seen as essentially pre-vetted? I guess skillset match is one thing, but a big company like Apple should have openings for basically any archetype of ML engineer.
