I do not get what sort of message one should get from a isolated statement of fact such as this one? In the real world we are presented only with trade-offs. There is no solution to reality. Any action (public policy or along any chain thereof) without a trade-off discussion of implications is a sign of immaturity or corruption. My comment has nothing to do whether one agrees or disagrees with proposed actions, Im simply observing the infantilization of a discussion in its form and content on a such a complex issue.

One cannot collapse such an issue into 0-D point and formulate policies, even less so theories, on a subject that impacts, and at the same time spans multiple spaces over which civilization exists as a whole.

Absolutely agree with your point here that we are presented with trade-offs in the real world. The data simply shows the facts. Many deductions can be made. For example, it highlights the hypocrisy of Europe in criticizing countries like India and China when Europe bought 60% of the Russia's fossil fuel exports. They face a trade off too. Everyone does.

Another deduction can be - this reality was known to Europe and the West in general (deep fossil dependence on Russia) and the trade offs that would arise if a war started - still the war happened. It is not impossible to believe that this war could have been avoided.
