#2All the details on the moratorium are in the last paragraph. It's a pause on new fossil fuel-based power plants getting permits to mine proof-of-work cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and Ethereum. Existing ones are grandfathered in, and renewable energy projects are still allowed.

#4Quasi clickbaity. The moratorium is only for fossil fuel dependent operations, which I as a Bitcoiner fully support. Any POW operations at scale (like the ones they are targeting) should be exclusively running on 100% renewables.

Just TheVerge? Every grifting publication has proven themselves to be incompetent, agenda driven and toxic. I still can't believe theverge exists after their "how to build a pc" fiasco. But that's the world of journalism/publishing. All privilege and no accountability.
